YOUR FIRST PERSONAL TRAINING SESSION

During your first session with one of our Personal Trainers, we'll spend some time getting to know about your goals and your current lifestyle. 

We'll ask you to perform a few basic exercises to assess your fitness levels. This will allow us to create an effective workout programme that's made specifically for you. We'll discuss your fitness goals, timescales and look at how much time you have to dedicate to your training. This way, we can work towards achieving results within a realistic timeframe. 

We sat down with Personal Trainer and Fitness Team Leader, Jane, to find out what you can expect in your first Personal Training session. 

Choosing a Personal Trainer

It can be tough to find the right personal trainer who works in a way that suits your needs but we have a good idea of what you should look for!

PERSONAL TRAINING FOR GROUPS

If you've made a pact with your pals or a committment with colleagues, a group Personal Training session will keep you on track.

We'll train small groups, allowing you to motivate each other towards your individual goals and share the expertise of your Personal Trainer. 

A great option for groups of friends preparing for a charity run or Tough Mudder, plus office workers who fancy a lunchtime workout!

PERSONAL TRAINING FOR BEGINNERS

If your fitness journey is only just beginning, figuring out how to get started can be a headscratcher.

Our Personal Trainers will devise a personalised workout plan based on your goals, and motivate you along the way to smash them. 

We'll monitor your progress and modify your plan as you get fitter and stronger. 

PERSONAL TRAINING FOR PREGNANT WOMEN

Hitting the gym whilst carrying precious cargo needs to be done safely. Our Personal Trainers will work with you and your bump to keep your fitness levels on form, with safe exercise techniques that won't put a strain on your body. 

We'll advise on which bits of equipment to use and how to use them, plus modify your exercise programme as your pregnancy progresses.

PERSONAL TRAINING FOR OVER 60s

Our Personal Trainers will create an exercise plan suitable for your fitness levels, taking into account any health problems such as lower back pain and weak joints to ensure you're comfortable. 

Our older members tell us that Personal Training has helped to help treat a number of ailments including slow digestion, diabetes, osteoporosis, back pain and sleeping problems.

Personal Training For Weight Loss

If you're keen to shed a few pounds or have hit a weight loss plateau, our Personal Trainers can help get you on track. 

We'll assess your current diet and lifestyle, then compile a fat-burning fitness plan you'll enjoy sticking to.

What does personal training involve?

Think of your Personal Trainer as your tutor, your motivator and your spotter.

After an in-depth consultation on your current lifestyle, and assessment of your fitness levels, your trainer will create an exercise plan for you to stick to each time you visit the gym.

They will monitor your technique, challenge you to push yourself and educate you on how best to use the equipment in order to maximise results.

How Often Should I See My PT?

Many of our members meet with their Personal Trainer every week, sometimes twice a week, to ensure they are on target towards achieving their goals.

If you lack motivation and need a little more encouragement, you may want to meet with your trainer twice weekly. If you're happy to put your fitness plan into practice on your own, you might choose to meet your PT just once a week. 

Each Personal Training session lasts for an hour, giving you plenty of time to ask all the questions you need to and get the most out of your gym time.

Whether you've signed up for your first Triathlon, or are preparing for the next Race For Life, our Personal Trainers will help you get your body ready for a competition or endurance event.
