Triathlon Training Tips

Training for a triathlon requires plenty of time, dedication and planning. If you’re in the process of planning your triathlon training, ensure you’ve given yourself at least 12 weeks to work on your swim, cycle and run technique. Read our top tips on training for your triathlon.

Love Low Impact Training?

If a low impact workout if your class of choice, try one of our holistic fitness classes, such as yoga, pilates or tai chi. Easy on the joints, perfect for all fitness levels and crammed with plenty of added benefits.

Aqua Aerobics Resistance Training

By using the natural resistance of the water, our Aqua Aerobics class can increase muscle strength, improve your cardio and enhance lung function.

Water is around 800 times denser than air, so it provides around 12 times more resistance.

This is why our Aqua Aerobics class is a great way to incorporate resistance training into your workout, without leaving yourself feeling too beaten.

Aqua Aerobics for weight loss

Aqua Aerobics classes are a great way to add variety to your weight loss routine.

Moving through water requires more effort than in the fitness studio, so by regularly attending our Aqua Aerobics classes, you'll give your calorie burns a boost.

Expect to burn between 400 and 500 calories per hour during an Aqua Aerobics class*

*According to the Aquatic Exercise Association.

What To Bring To Aqua Aerobics

If you're joining us for an Aqua Aerobics class, choose comfortable swimwear that allows you to move whilst maintaining your modesty!

Feel free to wear a swim cap to keep long hair out of your eyes.

Don't forget your towel, plus we recommend bringing a bottle of water to stay hydrated during the class, and a light snack to refuel with afterwards.

Aqua Aerobics For Beginners

New to Aqua Aerobics?

No problem. Let your Village Gym instructor know you're an Aquacise beginner, and they'll ensure they modify any exercises you may find challenging during your first class.

Feel free to make our Aqua Aerobics class work for you. If you begin to feel tired quickly, push yourself as far as you're able then take regular breaks.

Aqua Aerobics for seniors

Our Aqua Aerobics class is much easier on the joints than a studio-based class.

The water's buoyancy supports your bodyweight, reducing stress on the joints.

So it's a great class for senior members who want to enjoy a full body workout, improve  cardiovascular fitness, balance and their range of motion.

Plus, we're sure our more senior Village Gym members will love a well-earned cuppa together tea afterwards in our Pub & Grill!

Aqua Aerobics for pregnant women

Many pregnant women enjoy Aqua Aerobics for a safe and effective workout, without the strain.

The low impact techniques and support you'll get from the water makes exercising much easier on the back and will help to soothe sore muscles.

You'll still feel the burn, though Aqua Aerobics is one of the safest fitness classes for pregnant women who want to stay active.

Our Pools

Our indoor heated pools are the perfect place to enjoy some aquacise, take a few laps or enjoy uninterrupted swimming in our laned zones.
