WHAT KIND OF WORKOUT IS PILATES?

Pilates is a form of exercise that works to improve both your physical strength and stamina. It’s particularly effective at developing a strong core but can also boost your flexibility and promote overall better wellness through relaxation techniques.

Workouts range from gentle, low-impact exercises to routines that require greater strength, balance, and flexibility.

Our Pilates classes in Cardiff will benefit anyone looking to improve their physical fitness, posture, flexibility, and overall wellbeing, regardless of age, fitness level, or health status.

What To Wear For Your Pilates Class

There is no right or wrong way to dress for pilates. Our classes are all about fluid movements and gentle stretches so you'll want to wear something that allows your body to move freely. Whether that is your favourite tight vest top or comfiest oversized t-shirt, it is up to you!

Typically, our members will carry out our Pilates class barefoot. But feel free to wear a clean pair of trainers, that allow plenty of room for your feet to bend.

If this isn't enough, we've also put together a few pointers on the perfect workout wardrobe to ensure you hit our Cardiff pilates studio dressed for success.

WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF PILATES?

Pilates are ideal for anyone looking to improve their core strength and flexibility, but if you’re looking to enhance your cardiovascular health, consider adding other forms of aerobic exercise to your routine.

Stretches and breathing exercises can be practiced at home, but it’s advisable to seek proper instruction to avoid injury. Specialized equipment can prove expensive too which is why we provide everything you need to get started in-house.

Our Cardiff Pilates classes are taught by professional instructors and offer flexibility according to your fitness level. The practice can be tailored to individual needs and goals, providing versatility.

WHAT EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED FOR PILATES?

Mat - Pilates, focusing on floor exercises, demands only this basic item. For more varied and challenging workouts, specialized equipment like reformers, chairs, and Cadillac tables are used to add resistance and support to exercises, while small props such as Pilates rings, balls, and foam rollers can augment workouts.

Our Cardiff Pilates classes offer everything you need to ensure safe and effective practice, including the expert tuition of a certified instructor

IS PILATES GOOD FOR BEGINNERS?

Yes, Pilates is a good form of exercise for complete beginners. Whether you are completely new to exercise or have limited fitness experience, Pilates is a low-impact workout that makes for a great introduction to physical and mental endurance.

If you’re just starting your Pilates journey, our classes can be modified to suit different fitness levels and abilities, allowing beginners to progress at their own pace. A qualified instructor can help maximize the benefits of your exercise sessions, ensuring proper form and technique whilst preventing any potential injuries.
