Wear a swimsuit or shorts you're comfortable in, and opt for practical rather than stylish (nobody is judging your swim attire!)

Swimming caps are great for keeping long hair out of your face whilst you're getting used to the water. They also reduce ‘drag’ and so make swimming a bit easier.

Grab a pair of goggles to help you see under the water. It will help you with your technique, whilst also protecting your eyes from the chlorine.

Bring a bottle of water with you to keep hydrated. Learning to swim will take it out of you. Take regular sips throughout the lesson.

Pack a small snack such as a banana for straight after your swimming lesson, to replace your energy with something nutritious.
