Zumba in Reading

Tired of the same boring workout routine? If you’re looking to have fun on your way to fitness, then Zumba is one of the best ways to shake it loose and lose a few pounds in the process!

Our Reading club is packed with facilities to help you make the most of every session. From our expert-led classes to our spacious studios, everything supports your dance-driven fitness journey.

Our Zumba Classes

Combining Latin rhythms like samba, salsa, and mambo with energetic workouts to boost cardio and muscle strength, a Zumba dance fitness program is perfect for those who like to switch up their moves.

Every session is led by expert instructors that will take you through every step - ensuring you get the most out of every session with us.

Benefits of Zumba

Zumba offers a whole range of benefits, including:

  • Helping with weight loss. Zumba is a fun and effective way to get in shape and lose weight. Just one hour can burn anywhere from 600 to 1,000 calories.

  • Toning your body. Zumba helps you tone a whole host of muscle groups without necessarily adding weight in the form of muscle mass.

  • Boosting metabolism and cardiovascular health. Each session is designed so that it’ll help you keep your metabolism up and your heart pumping.

  • Improving coordination and balance. Dancing along to the rhythm is a fantastic way to enhance your body coordination and balance.

Most importantly, Zumba is great for helping you manage stress and have fun!

Zumba Styles

Zumba incorporates a whole host of different dancing styles and it does this to ensure that every session is engaging and interesting. Be it moves from samba, mambo, or salsa, or something like hip-hop, or belly-dancing - we’re never short of moves or routines that’ll help you boogie those calories away.

Two Left Feet?

Not had the best track record when it comes to the dance floor? Fear not, Zumba will fix that! Our experts will take the time needed to make sure you are learning the moves and having fun. We don’t just have a motto, we mean it: ‘ditch the workout, join the party’. Groove with us to the beat and improve your health while you do so!

What to wear to a Zumba Class

Since Zumba is a high-energy but low-impact dance workout, it’s important to dress so that you are comfortable for the whole session. Lightweight fabrics like cotton or mesh are popular, and shoes with good support are a must.

Laces can be a hassle, so consider lace-free shoes or tie them securely to prevent them from coming undone.

How many times a week should you do Zumba?

2–3 times a week is ideal for fitness and weight loss. You can do more if you enjoy it, but balance with rest or strength training to avoid overuse injuries.

Is Zumba cardio or strength?

Zumba is primarily cardio. While it tones muscles through dance moves, it doesn’t build strength like resistance training does. Its main benefits are endurance, calorie burn, and coordination.

Is Zumba good for osteoarthritis?

Zumba can be good for osteoarthritis but only if done with low-impact modifications. Gentle Zumba helps with movement and weight control, but high-impact steps may stress arthritic joints. Always consult a doctor first

Is Zumba considered HIIT?

Zumba isn’t strictly HIIT, but it has similar elements—short bursts of high energy followed by lighter movements. Some advanced Zumba classes may feel close to HIIT in intensity.

What other fitness classes does Village Health + Wellness Club Reading offer?

Our Reading wellness club will offer over 100+ fitness classes per week. From the high intensity Les Mills workouts including BodyPump, BodyAttack and Grit, to low impact classes such as Reformer Pilates* and Yoga. Plus our very own Village exclusive BURN, boxing and HIIT classes.
