Best Exercises for Men to Lose Belly Fat

A penchant for a pint is no bad thing.

Hey, there's nothing better than a sip of the old amber nectar in the Village Pub! Though if the pints are piling on the pounds, it's time to sip a little less and move a lot more!

We've outlined a few tips to tackle that beer gut, to get you looking lean and mean...

Diet Overhaul

Whilst nothing accessories a cold pint than a juicy burger and fries, if you want to shed the spare tyre, your diet's going to need some attention.

Think of anything you put into your mouth as fuel for that fine new body you're working on. Whole grains, natural foods, lean meats and green vegetables. Load em up!

Eat regularly throughout the day to keep hunger pangs at bay. If you eat when you're ravenous, you're more likely to reach for something smothered in grease!

Lift It Lad

To burn away the beer belly, you're going to need to work on getting a quicker and more efficient metabolism. Lifting weights will help you to increase muscle, increasing metabolism as you go, as your body will need to burn more calories in order to keep those muscles fed.

Through proper weight lifting, and a number of HIIT fitness classes such as Burn, your body's metabolism can be increased for up to 48 hours after your workout ends. Bonus!

Put The Pint Down

Yes, we know. Sitting in the pub without cradling a pint is akin to hitting the tennis courts without a racquet. It looks and feels a little odd. You're not sure what you're doing there and you have to watch everyone else enjoying the fun whilst you're not joining in.

The average pint of beer contains about 180 calories. And it's rare you'll just have the one (we're not judging). Swap the ale for something more saintly. A vodka and soda contains a more streamlined 70 calories, making it a great choice for weight loss.

HIIT It

Forget taking a leisurely stroll on the treadmill. It you want to zap the fat, you'll need to go high intensity.

Work that body as hard as you can, in short bursts, for better lung-capacity, endurance and an increased metabolism. Try our Les Mills Grit Cardio or Metafit class for a seriously high intensity fat-burner of a workout.
