FOOD TRENDS 2022

Each year we see so many exciting food trends appear all over socials that we cant wait to try. Kale is so 2019, and avocado is so 2021…so let's find out what this year is all about.

TIK TIK FOODIES

Tik Tok is the place to be in 2022, with most trends starting and taking off on this platform. So it's no surprise that the foodies of the world and restaurant brands have also made their way over to the platform to stay relevant.

Tik Tok has seen many content creators make fun recipes and review restaurants in fun, creative ways. With many videos taking off and going viral, I mean if you didn't see the baked Feta pasta trend, where have you been? This baked pasta dish used just six ingredients and took just twenty-five minutes to make, all in one dish. Tasty and so less washing up… nice.

We expect the growth of foodies and brands on Tik Tok to continue well into 2022.

SPICY FLAVOURS

Spicy food has been popular for quite some time now. The past year has seen people experimenting with these flavours in the comfort of their own homes. The likes of sriracha, Aleppo chilli, miso, chipotle and the hatch green chilli are becoming more and more popular and we expect this to continue well into 2022.

The new kids on the block…

  • Chillies- scotch bonnet, ghost, poblano and the hatch green chilli
  • Jamaican Jerk- jerk has well and truly found a place in diner's hearts.
  • Sichuan - this fragrant spice is becoming increasingly popular in tasty dishes such as Sichuan Beef and Bang Bang Chicken.

BRUNCH

Brunch has been popular for some time now, providing the perfect meal between breakfast and lunch, and it has become quite a social event. However, we have recently seen the craze for bottomless brunching, combing brunch food with unlimited alcohol. Bottomless brunch really has taken brunching to a whole new level. If you fancy a cheeky little tipple, then this should definitely be on your bucket list.

  • Vegan chicken alternatives have been done brands are now moving over to replicating other meats such as pork
  • More pant based milk, such as the potato milk

POTATO MILK

Yes, that's right, potato milk. 2022 is set to see the rise of potato milk as an alternative to cow's milk. Now we already know consumers are up for an alternative to cow's milk, with the rise of oat milk over the past couple of years.

So, you may be wondering what potato milk is. This milk alternative comes from the diluted starches from potato and claims to be deliciously creamy, making it the perfect addition to coffee.
