A family that gyms together... wins together!
This is especially true for Bristol gym member, Amy, who along with 3 generations of her family are currently prepping for the Exmouth Sprint Triathlon.
All of the women in Amy's family, including Nan (aged 87), Mum, Auntie and Amy herself, will be completing the running section of the event. Amy tells us;
"We may have to downgrade to walking but the distance will be the same!"
Amy's 11 year old daughter will tackle the cycling section and Amy will complete the swim.
The family are taking on the triathlon to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
"My mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April 2018 and underwent major surgery which was followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Pancreatic cancer is now the deadliest common cancer in the UK and has the lowest survival rate. Research is severely underfunded with most people not surviving a year after diagnosis, many not discovering they have pancreatic cancer until it’s too late.
Luckily my Mum is currently in remission. We would love to raise awareness and money for Pancreatic Cancer UK who supported her during her treatment and provide a nurse-led helpline for patients as well as funding vital research and campaigning to raise awareness."
The four women will be taking on the Sprint Marathon in Exmouth on 27th October.
"As we cover a large age span and ability range we wanted to take part in an event that was challenging to each of us. Consequently we settled on a sprint triathlon with each of us taking on a single event. We love Exmouth in Devon as we have spent many wonderful family holidays there."
So far, Amy's family have raised over £1000 and would love to maximise their fundraising efforts as much as possible.
They'll continue their training, with Amy getting her workouts done at Village Gym Bristol on a regular basis.

We wish them the very best of luck!
